The Williams County Board of Developmental Disabilities is dedicated to empowering families and supporting children with developmental disabilities. As Assistant Director of Children’s Services, you’ll play a vital leadership role in coordinating and managing services that transform the lives of young children and their families. What You’ll Do:

Leadership & Management:

  • Assist the Director of Children’s Services in coordinating the Early Intervention Program, including annual budgeting, implementation, quality assurance, and staffing
  • Supervise Early Intervention staff including Service Coordinators and Developmental Specialists, providing guidance, evaluation, and support
  • Function as a member of the WCBDD management team and attend Management Meetings and Board Meetings as needed
  • Oversee the intake process for the Early Intervention Program, ensuring families receive timely, compassionate support

Program Coordination & Compliance:

  • Ensure Early Intervention Program and Help Me Grow compliance with all state and federal requirements, including DODD Rules and Regulations
  • Complete fiscal reports, monitor data systems (Early Intervention Data System and Brittco), and write the HMG Grant for Williams County
  • Compile and submit Title XX documentation and assist with accreditation processes
  • Monitor completion of all required state department reporting procedures

Community Partnerships & Collaboration:

  • Coordinate community early childhood screenings and serve as Central Coordination Site representative
  • Serve as primary agency liaison with community agencies and Board representative on Early Head Start Collaborative and Family and Children First Council
  • Attend monthly interagency meetings to coordinate services for high-risk children involved with multiple systems (education, DD, DJFS, etc.)
  • Facilitate transition process for children exiting Early Intervention due to age
  • Provide onsite supervision of contracted therapists and monitor treatment goals and interventions

What You Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or other human service field required
  • Certified, or certifiable, by the Ohio Department of DD as a Developmental Specialist and Early Intervention Service Coordinator
  • Experience working with children who have disabilities (supervision experience preferred)

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families, staff, and community partners
  • Computer proficiency and basic office skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Practical Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with reliable, insurable vehicle
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Flexibility to work varied hours including some evenings and weekends as needed

Work Environment: Primarily office-based with regular phone and computer use. Some travel to community meetings and events.
